Macquarie Connect Integration

Overview

Macquarie Connect is Macquarie Bank's own secure data sharing platform. Rex Cirrus8 now integrates with Macquarie Connect, making it easier to link your Macquarie Bank accounts to Rex Cirrus8.

Macquarie is retiring its Direct Downloads (DD) service on 2 June 2026. If your database uses Macquarie's TXN download for receipting, you will need to set up the Macquarie Connect integration before this date to avoid any disruption.

With this integration, users can now consent to the connection directly via the Macquarie Connect portal and authorise Rex Cirrus8 to access your banking data. Macquarie then issues a secure digital token, which is used to retrieve this data.

Once connected, Trust Accountant users can continue to download transaction (TXN) files from Rex Cirrus8 and match transactions against properties and leases, just as before. The day-to-day workflow in Receipts remains unchanged.

Note: Only Macquarie Bank accounts using TXN downloads are affected by this update. All other bank configurations remain the same.

Key Updates

  • A dedicated Macquarie Connect page is now available on Rex Cirrus8 to manage the bank connection.
  • Authentication is completed via a secure Macquarie-hosted consent flow.
  • Once authenticated, your connection consent is valid for 12 months, after which it will need to be renewed.
  • TXN file downloads in Accounts Receivable > Receipts continue to work exactly as before.

Setup Requirements

Before you enable Macquarie Connect data sharing, make sure the following are in place:

  • Your Macquarie bank account is already set up in Rex Cirrus8 under Configuration > Manage Bank Accounts with the Bank Name set to Macquarie Bank Ltd.
  • The person completing the setup has their own Macquarie Bank login credentials (Macquarie ID) and has data sharing permissions via Macquarie.
  • You have access to the device registered with the Macquarie Authenticator app for identity verification during the setup process.

How to Set Up the Macquarie Connect Integration in Rex Cirrus8

Setup must be completed by a Macquarie Connect authorised user. Once authentication is complete, the connection becomes active for all eligible users within the database.

1. Navigate to the Macquarie Connect page by pasting the following link directly into your browser while logged in to Rex Cirrus8:
https://client.cirrus8.com.au/framework/index.php?command=MacquarieBankAccounts&module=administration
Note: The Macquarie Connect page is not accessible from the navigation menu.
Your Macquarie bank accounts will be listed on this page, with the Status column displaying ✘ Requires Login.

2. Click the Login button in the Action column next to your Macquarie bank account. A popup window will open and redirect you to Macquarie’s secure login portal.

3. On the Macquarie portal, enter your Macquarie ID and click Next.

4. Complete the verification. Macquarie will send a push notification to your registered device via the Macquarie Authenticator app. Approve the request to continue. If you don’t receive the push notification, open the Macquarie Authenticator app directly and select the pending request from your task list. If needed, select Verify another way on the portal.

Note: The verification request expires after a short time. If it times out, simply restart the login process from Step 2.

5. On the Establish data connection screen, select the relevant business entity from the dropdown list and click Next.

6. On the Select facilities screen, tick the checkboxes next to the accounts you want to share with Rex Cirrus8, then click Next.

7. Review the Confirm details screen, which shows your selected accounts, the data sharing type, and the sharing period. Click Confirm to proceed.

8. The final screen will display “Your data sharing request has been submitted”. You will be automatically redirected back to Rex Cirrus8. If the redirect does not happen, click the blue Back to Rex Cirrus8 button.

The Status on the Macquarie Connect page will update to ✓ Authenticated and display the Consent Expiry Date (12 months from the date of authentication). To renew, simply complete the setup process again.

Once the Status on the Macquarie Connect page shows ✓ Authenticated, Rex Cirrus8 is ready to retrieve your Macquarie banking data. Trust Accountant users can download TXN files at any time for the Macquarie Bank Account through Accounts Receivable > Receipts using the existing process. Transactions will load automatically using the secure token, with no additional login required.
