There are two ways to receipt funds in Cirrus8 when there is no invoice available to allocate the funds to:
Sundry Receipt
Amount in Credit
This article explains the difference between these receipt types, when each should be used, and how to correct the receipt if the incorrect option is selected.
Understanding Sundry Receipts
A Sundry Receipt creates an Accounts Receivable invoice and allocates the funds to that invoice at the time of receipting. Once processed, the funds are immediately available for use within the property.
This option should be used for:
Owner contributions
Insurance claim proceeds
Sales deposits
When receipting:
Select the Sundry Receipt tick box.
Understanding Amount in Credit
An Amount in Credit records funds without allocating them to any transaction. The funds are held as a credit and can be applied later once a charge has been raised using a Zero Receipt.
These funds are reserved by default and are only recognised as income once they have been allocated.
This option should be used for:
Tenant overpayments
Leasing deposits
Bonds
When receipting:
Do not select the Sundry Receipt tick box.
When processing a payment run, these funds are reserved by default. You may untick Reserve to pay these funds out before allocation; however, it is best practice to hold the funds until they have been allocated in case a refund is required.

Process the receipt

Raise an Accounts Receivable credit for the same amount
Use the same account code and description
Select Create an Interim Tax Invoice
